Telegram is a messaging application, which can be used across web, desktop, and mobile platforms. Telegram users can exchange messages using texts, images, video, audio, files, and more. It also supports end-to-end encryption of voice and video calls for its users.

Before integrating the Telegram channel with CloudCX, you first need to set up a Telegram account. You would need a bot token from the Telegram account. To learn how to find the Bot Token, see this article.

Add a Telegram Bot

Prerequisites

To connect with Telegram, you need to create a Telegram bot and obtain the bot’s token from Telegram. You can find more details about Create a Telegram BotWhere Do You Find Telegram Bot Token.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Go to your system CloudCX installation domain, and log in with the admin account.

  2. From the left navigation menu, go to Inbox > Channel > Telegram.

  3. Click on the “+” button to add a Telegram Bot.

  1. Enter the bot Name and Bot token.

Account: Account Name is a unique identification ID for the bot in the system. Make sure it's easily recognizable for yourself and your team. This name will only be used internally.

Bot token: The bot token generated when you create a bot in Telegram, you can find more details about Where Do You Find Telegram Bot Token.

  1. Click Save. The system will prompt “The bot token will take 5-10 minutes to take effect, during which time you will not receive any Telegram messages.”

The connected Telegram Bot will be listed on the Inbox > Channels > Telegram. After 5-10 minuutes, agents can receive or send messages from or to the connected bot in the system.

Manage Telegram Bots in Inbox

  • Enable/Disable: Turn on / off the “Enable” button to enable / disable the connected Telegram Bot. If you disable a bot, the system will no longer be able to receive or send messages from or to the bot. If you enable the page again, the system will continue to receive or send messages from or to the bot.

  • Edit: Click on the “Edit” icon to open the edition window for editing the connected bot.

  • Delete: Click on the “Delete” icon to open a confirmation window for deleting the connected Telegram bot. Click on “Delete” button to delete the bot, or click on “Cancel” to cancel the deletion. The system will prompt “It takes about 1 minute to delete the bot, and the list will be automatically updated after successful deletion”.
